“Welcome me to your digital world” is implemented in partnership with Youth Association for Habitat, Intel Turkey, Ministry of National Education, UNDP and Turkish Informatics Foundation which is a digital inclusion program to reach out to school aged boys and girls (7-18) of rural and low income families as well as the local youth councils through Social Media.

The aim of this Project is for bridging the divide between young people who lack and cannot afford home access to computers in rural Turkey. It is aimed to include digitally excluded 1,600 school-age boys and girls from poor households in digital life by;

• Equipping them with computers, and
• Enabling them to access and contribute to online knowledge creation.

The expected benefits of this preparatory phase will be equipping 1,600 poor boys and girls from poor households in ten public schools with computers and knowledge to integrate them into digital life. An additional private foundation school will also be targeted to support efforts for additional generation of educational digital content generation. In total, this pilot project aims at (i) engaging a minimum of 80 school-aged boys and girls in four schools as content generators through a social media platform, and (ii) equipping a minimum of 1,600 boys and girls from poor livelihoods to benefit from and contribute to the digital content.

The duration of the project is 9 months, between October 2008 and July 2009.
