Aegean
Youth Interaction Project is being conducted with the cooperation of
Youth for Habitat Association, Greece National Youth Council, Beyoglu Municipality,
Athens Municipality, Bosporus University and Pantios
University . This
project is supported within the scope of EU Commission's Program for Supporting Small
Scale Projects.
One
of the biggest challenges we face in the course of our membership negotiations is
that the youth doesn't have an adequate knowledge and awareness regarding EU's structure,
institutions, EU citizenship and Turkey-EU relations.
Our
main purpose in realizing the Aegean Youth Interaction Project is to raise the youth's
awareness about the European Union and its interactions with Greece, which is a member
of the European Union.
The
intention is to give 100 young people between the ages of 16-18 from Turkey and Greece,
training on 'European Union Institutions', 'Integration with the European Union',
'European Union Youth Programs', and 'European Citizenship' within the scope of the
Aegean Youth Interaction Project. As a result of these trainings, Turkey has accommodated
the young people from Greece at the
Kefken Youth Camp
which
belongs to the Beyoglu Municipality.
The
youth communication network between Istanbul and Athens will for an 'information
bridge' between Turkey and Greece. With
the experiences they gained, the young people will play an important role for establishing
friendly relations between the two countries and for both parties to get to know
each other correctly in the EU negotiation process.
