YOUTH ASSOCİATİON FOR HABİTAT İS AMONG WSYA WİNNERS 2009

Youth Association for Habitat is awarded by the World Summit Youth Award within the framework of "Strengthening Youth Networks in Turkey: Young Human Network (TGAG) Project."  TGAG is a project, which aims to bring local knowledge of youth councils together at an online platform where young people can share their experiences on how they localize UN Millennium Development Goals.

612 submissions, including TGAG have applied as good examples to promote UN
Millennium Development Goals creating a digital content. Projects from 101 countries have been evaluated by 20 experts in different WSYA categories: Fight Poverty, Hunger and Disease! Education for All! Power 2 Women! Create Your Culture! Go Green!

TGAG has been evaluated as one of the best five projects
in the Create Your Culture category! WSYA Winners will take centre stage in Monterrey, Mexico during the UN Global Forum on ICT and Development and WSA Winners Celebrations in June 10-13, 2009.

“Strengthening Youth Networks in Turkey: Young Human Network Project” is implemented in partnership with Youth Association for Habitat, UNDP, Cisco Systems and Teachers without Borders is a good example where the National Youth Parliament in Turkey raises awareness on UN MDGs.  Young people bring training curriculum on MDGs in local language together and they get organized through local youth councils to localize MDGs within the framework of Local Agenda 21 Program in Turkey.

Signing up virtual platform of the National Youth Parliament at www.ulusalgenclikparlamentosu.net,  any young person can link to any local, regional and national youth organization without any discrimination, s/he can join in any group for knowledge generation and to actively participate in socio-economic development of life, besides s/he can establish partnerships to produce projects and policies for localization of MDGs as well as for the establishment of an integrated youth policy in Turkey.

Youth Association for Habitat will present TGAG as one of the best practices to
representatives of governments, business leaders, civil society and the
international community at the UN Global Forum on ICT and Development in June 10-13, 2009.
